Social programme and excursion

QD2010
QD2010

For QD2010, we have assembled a rich social programme that will hopefully give you an insight into the wonderful English heritage sites around Nottingham.

Welcome Reception : Sunday 25 April (19:00 – 20:30)

There will be a Welcome Reception on Sunday evening where you will get a chance to pick up your registration pack, have a drink, and catch up with friends and colleagues who are also arriving on the Sunday evening.

Cost: Free (But please let us know on the registration form if you wish to attend, so that we can order the right amount of catering)

Tutbury Castle : Wednesday 28 April (14:30 – 22:00)

The Conference Excursion and Conference Gala Dinner will be held at Tutbury Castle.

Tutbury is a largely ruinous medieval castle and Grade I listed building, with the ruins dating back to the 12th, 14th and 15th centuries. Mary, Queen of Scots was famously imprisoned in the castle in the 16th century, and the Great Hall is the room which was used by King Charles 1st during the Civil War.

In the afternoon you will be able to see and listen to a variety of specialists within the castle to entertain you during a pre-dinner reception. The Castle Executioner will give you a tour of the dungeon and Mary Queen of Scots will be in the Great Hall to talk of her time in captivity in the castle. There will also be a couple more historical figures to guide you through the history of Tutbury.

Cost: £60 per person. (Includes travel to and from Tutbury Castle, a reception drink, and a three course meal with wine, coffee and mints)
